Local security businesses unite to present
products and services nationwide
Three local security companies recently joined forces in a unique
effort to attract national and international business to the
Upstate security industry. Alarm Monitoring Center (AMC), located
in Greer, teamed up with Global Online Solutions Network and
Norfolk Wire & Electronics at the International Security
Conference West, held in Las Vegas April 6, 7, and 8.
The Sands Exposition Center hosted 30,000 attendees at this
years bi-annual trade show, and featured more than 800
booths filled with security industry professionals. Securing
an edge on the competition, AMC, a central station and provider
of services, worked together with Global Online Solutions Network,
a manufacturer also located in Greer, and Norfolk Wire &
Electronics, a regional distributor, to present to potential
customers a unique opportunity to view related goods and services
from a cooperative single source.
These distinct groups are not typically known for working
together, says Keith Armstrong, AMC General Manager. This
is a different business model than the security industry commonly
uses. Instead of working against each other, we worked together
to enhance our ability to meet customers safety and security
needs and promote services, he adds.
The united front obviously paid off, as the trio of companies
made over 500 contacts and business leads from New York to California
and Hawaii, and spoke with everyone from security dealers to
corporate America.
This collaboration provided potential clients an opportunity
to see demonstrations of actual scenarios in which the featured
products and services might be used.
It provided us with an opportunity to expand our base
nationwide, says Armstrong, adding the more business
we bring home, the better for us and the better for our local
economy.
AMC has been a subsidiary of Laurens Electric Cooperative since
1998. AMC monitors approximately 28,000 accounts in 20 states,
and shares Laurens Electric Cooperatives commitment to
being the provider of choice for energy and related services.
Laurens Electric Cooperative serves 47,000 member-owners in
Laurens, Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Newberry, Union,
and Abbeville counties.
