For Immediate Release
Mauldinfest 2006 promises family fun for everyone
In
1990, several city residents planned an event to mark
the city of Mauldin's 100th anniversary. Mauldinfest
was launched as a celebration of Mauldin's ‘constitution
days’ and has since grown into a premiere event
that attracts visitors from across the southeastern United
States.
This
year, Mauldinfest, sponsored by Laurens Electric Cooperative,
will take place September 22nd and 23rd at Mauldin’s Sunset Park. The fun kicks off Friday
night with opening ceremonies, a hot air balloon "glow",
and entertainment on the main stage, including the group "Still
Cruzin'" at 8:00 p.m.
On
Saturday, the day will be filled with many activities
for festival attendees with quality craft vendors,
a variety of food, amusement rides, and games for all
ages. Mauldinfest features a Cruise-in on Saturday for
auto and vehicle enthusiasts, and on Saturday afternoon
the ever-popular Mauldinfest Talent Search will
begin at 3:00 p.m. The headliner entertainment on
Saturday night attracts large crowds, and this year
Jim Vicars will perform as "Elvis" at 5:30
p.m. followed by "The Tams" playing at
8:00 p.m. Saturday night ends with a bang, as a
huge display of fireworks lights up the night sky with
a brilliant array of colors.
As
always, there is no admission charge, only a $1 per
car parking fee to get into the festival Remember to
bring lawn chairs to relax in front of the Wachovia
Main Stage area. Please be sure to visit the many great
vendors and sponsors that really do make Mauldinfest
one of the best family-fun festivals in the Upstate.
