Upstate golfers help raise $10,000 for local children's charity

Shootout winner comes within 10 ft of $1 million hole

Mark Ogsly of Greenville came just 10' 3" from winning $1 million in the April 18 finals of Laurens Electric Cooperative’s Touchstone Energy Million Dollar Hole-in-One Shootout, but leaves with $1000 in prize money.

Mark Ogsly of Greenville came just 10' 3" from winning $1 million in the April 18 finals of Laurens Electric Cooperative’s Touchstone Energy Million Dollar Hole-in-One Shootout at Eagle Zone golf center on Pelham Road in Greenville.
Ogsly won $1,000 for the closest-to-the-$1 million-hole shot. Mitch Gault of Simpsonville was next closest at 28' 5" and won $500, followed by John Sucin of Simpsonville at 33' 4", who took home $250.

Other finalists included: Toby Davidson of Harlem, GA, Andrew Heath of Boiling Springs, Mark Dutch of Simpsonville, Steve Goforth of Greenville, David Swoap of Simpsonville, Van Cato of Laurens, Steven Drumm of Simpsonville, Stewart Berry of Greer, Judd Stewart of Simpsonville, Lee Featherstone of Greer, Sal Coletti of Mauldin, Less Duggins of Spartanburg, Bryan Fowler of Greenville, Jeff Durham of Greer, Patrick Van Every of Greenville, Chris Callahan of Easley, Mary Belle of Dayton, OH, and Jamin Drake of Greer.

Sponsored by Laurens Electric Cooperative, the Shootout included two qualifying days during which golfers could earn entry into the Saturday finals, where a hole in one would have been worth $1 million!

All proceeds from the Hole In One Shootout will benefit The Beach Ball Foundation, a registered South Carolina 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping children in need and at risk. It is an all-volunteer organization of caring business leaders and community leaders from the Upstate. The foundation raises funds through our annual Beach Ball event.

This year’s $1 Million Hole In One Shootout earned $10,000 for charity. Every dollar spent at the hole-in-one event is a dollar that will go to For Our Children, a fantastic way to support the community, an outstanding agency and have a great time in the process.

Laurens Electric Cooperative serves 51,000 member-owners in Laurens, Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Newberry, Union, and Abbeville counties. Since 1939, the co-op has been dedicated to being the provider of choice for energy and related services in the Upstate.
