Rebates (Home Rewards Program)

Receive cash back through our Home Rewards Program!

Cash back, improved comfort and lower energy bills . . . now those are rewards you can appreciate. Through our Home Rewards program, residential members receive cash back for making energy-efficiency improvements to their homes, including the following:

Upgrading the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system

Improving the energy efficiency of ductwork

Improving the energy efficiency of the attic

Installing a dual-fuel heat pump

Why help you save money? Because helping you use energy efficiently helps delay the need for additional power plants. That helps keep the cost of electricity stable, while helping the environment.

That’s a reward everyone can appreciate.

What is the Home Rewards Program?

Home Rewards gives you cash back to help you save money on your energy bills, make your home more comfortable and more energy efficient. These incentives help offset the cost of improvements.

Who qualifies for these incentives?

Residential members of Laurens Electric Cooperative who live in single-family homes. Multi-family homes, condominiums, and apartments are not eligible.

What we will need from you:

We offer multiple ways to make your home more energy-efficient with financial incentives to help get the job done.

Upgrade the HVAC System:

Residential members have a $225 incentive for upgrading to a high-efficiency HVAC unit (minimum 17 SEER2 rating). Single-family homes are eligible. (Multi-family homes, condominiums, and apartments are not eligible.)

The following are the unit requirements:

Technicians installing the new HVAC system must be licensed S.C. mechanical contractors. The application and supporting documentation must be submitted and approved within 30 days of the unit being in service

Improving the Energy-efficiency of Ductwork:

Residential members can receive a $100 incentive for improving the energy-efficiency of their heating and cooling system’s ductwork.

Single-family homes are eligible. (Multi-family homes, condominiums, and apartments are not eligible.) The following are the eligibility requirements:

Contractors performing duct improvement work must be certified by either the Building Performance Institute (BPI) or the North American Technician Excellence (NATE) organization. In addition, the application and supporting documentation must be submitted and approved within 30 days of the work being completed.

* Results must be verified before – and after testing.

Improving the Energy-efficiency of the Attic:

Residential members can receive a $200 incentive for increasing attic insulation and for sealing the attic. Single-family homes are eligible. (Multi-family homes, condominiums and apartments are not eligible.) To qualify for the incentive, attic insulation has to be improved from R-19 or below to at least R-30, the home’s leakage rate must be improved by at least 5 percent and before- and after testing required. In addition, the application and supporting documentation must be submitted and approved within 30 days of the work being completed.

Contractors performing attic improvements must be certified by either the Building Performance Institute (BPI) or the North American Technician Excellence (NATE) organization.

Installing a Dual-fuel Heat Pump:

Members who install a dual-fuel heat pump will be eligible for a $1000 incentive. (The incentive is limited to one system per home.)

A dual-fuel heat pump combines an electric heat pump with a gas furnace in a single heating unit. The owner can program the system to function primarily with electricity or gas, depending on the time of year and fuel prices. These systems are also energy-efficient when freezing temperatures cause electric pumps to work harder. The system can switch over to use the gas furnace during those times, giving the owner the best of both worlds.

Technicians performing the installation must be licensed S.C. mechanical contractors.
