Laurens Electric Cooperative will refund $1,000,000 in patronage capital credits during the month of October.
As a member-owned electric utility, the cooperative has returned $15,873,479 in patronage capital credits since 1990. As owners, you are entitled to receive a portion of the margins. An investor-owned utility would call this money profit and would keep it or pay it to investors who are not necessarily served by the utility.
Patronage capital credits are similar in nature to dividends paid to stockholders. You could consider this money your dividend as a member-owner of the co-op.
Members who are owed $100 or less will receive the credit to their accounts. Unclaimed credits are listed here (either provide link or say “listed below”).
Do we have your capital credit check?
